ZEISS VISUMAX FEMTOSECOND LASER

The ZEISS VisuMax laser is the most state-of-the-art femtosecond laser in the world. This device delivers laser pulses with a very high frequency (500 Khz) in an extremely precise manner. Currently, this laser is the only device that is able to perform corrections of the cornea in combination with an excimer laser (femto-LASIK), as well as in a so-called single-step procedure, where the complete correction is performed with the VisuMax. The latter technique is called ReLEx smile.

ZEISS MEL80 EXCIMER LASER

The MEL80 is the result of years of research and improvement. The accuracy and speed of this laser make it one of the most widely used lasers in refractive surgery. The MEL80 has a wide range of applications:

  • PRK and LASEK: surface treatment to correct the refraction.
  • Femto-LASIK: the correction of refraction in combination with the femtosecond laser (we do not perform LASIK using a microkeratome).
  • Topo-guided treatment: information from the ATLAS 9000 topography system is used to achieve personalized treatment. This means that even some irregular corneas can be corrected, which is not possible with standard treatments.
  • PRESBYOND treatment. With this technique, reading vision can be improved in patients over 40 with presbyopia symptoms.
  • PTK: the medical treatment of superficial corneal abnormalities such as recurrent erosion and map-dot-fingerprint dystrophy.

ZEISS LUMERA 700 MICROSCOPE

The Zeiss Lumera 700 microscope is considered by many to be the number one state-of-the-art surgical microscope. Because this microscope shows the smallest anatomical details, nothing is left to chance during the procedure. The revolutionary CALLISO Eye System even allows digital images to be projected over the microscope image. Thanks to this 'overlay’, the surgeon is shown the perfect location and position for the implant lens. This makes the operation truly ‘computer controlled.’

ZEISS ATLAS 9000

The ATLAS 9000 topography system performs measurements of the corneal curvature based on Placido technology. Concentric rings are projected onto the front of the eye. The device takes pictures of the reflection of these rings on the cornea and can use this to calculate the curvature of the corneal surface. This is shown in a color image.

SCHWIND SIRIUS TOPOGRAPHY SYSTEM AND PUPILOMETER

The SIRIUS by SCHWIND uses Scheimpflug photography, today the most cutting-edge way to map the cornea. A light beam is sent through the cornea while high-frequency photos are taken of the part of the cornea being illuminated. Because the light beam is rotated while the images are being taken, the cornea is imaged over 360 degrees. In addition to visualizing the cornea, the SCHWIND SIRIUS also shows the entire front of the eye (the anterior chamber). This enables the SIRIUS to measure the depth of the anterior chamber, determine the shape of the iris and measure the size of the pupil.

NIDEK TONOREF II

The NIDEK TONOREF is a device that combines two measurements. The device measures the refraction (lens diopter) of the eye with great accuracy. It also measures the ocular pressure.
